Increase in the Assessment

At the June 14th General Membership meeting, it was reported to the membership the necessity to increase the existing assessment from 1% to 1 1‰�ã2% on all “A” rated journeypersons. The action was put forth as per the by-laws of Local 3 because the financial reserves of Local 3 have gone below twelve million dollars (12,000,000).
The increase is vital to keeping up the day-to-day operations of the Local Union. While the increase is necessary, Local 3 is cognizant of the fact that they must keep expenses at a minimum.
While 1 1‰�ã2% may seem exorbitant to some, we must realize that there are locals within the International that pay 4% and 5% assessments.
