On Sunday, January 14th, Local 3 North members gathered for the 2nd Annual MLK Day Brunch commemorating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Past shop steward and retiree Mack Homer opened the program with an invocation prayer. Shop steward Mike Doyley spoke about Dr. King’s legacy of fighting for civil rights through the means of peaceful protest. Business Representative Lou Sanchez reminded members that not only did Dr. King fight to end segregation, but he recognized the importance of the labor movement in the broader struggles for economic justice. Newly elected Mayor of New Rochelle, Yadira Ramos-Herbert, and New Rochelle Councilman David Peters also joined the brunch. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by the members, who look forward to next year.
