The 87th annual meeting of the Electrical Workers Death Benefit Society (EWDBS) convened on Thursday, February 12th, in the Electric Industry Center Auditorium. Local 3 members in attendance for the monthly General Membership meeting voted to temporarily suspend it and open the floor to the EWDBS’ annual meeting and election. The officers and directors of the Death Benefit Society were introduced and welcomed onstage, followed by the reading of the minutes from the 86th annual EWDBS meeting held last year on February 13th.
The directors are: Tricia Benderoth, David Benjamin, Donald Brathwaite Jr., Leonard Copicotto Jr., Angel Corchado, Christopher Erikson, Eric Farbman, Gregory Farrell, John Fazekas, Kevin Fowler, Robert Martin, Sean McDonald, Dennis McSpedon, Thomas Mohan, John Papandrea, Paul Patti, Andy Pearson, Thomas Prezioso, Joseph Proscia, and Raymond Ripley. The officers are: President Tom Cleary, Vice President Louis Alvarez, Secretary Michael Loreto, and Treasurer Damon Armstrong, who delivered the 2025 financial report, including the summary of benefits and brief history of Local 3’s Death Benefit Society. About $101 million in death benefits have been paid out since its founding in 1940.
The death benefit provides 100 percent of the face value of the certificate, which doubles the beneficiary benefit, in addition to plans managed through the Joint Industry Board and the IBEW Pension Benefit Fund. The Designation of Beneficiary form can be found on Local 3’s website.
