Hundreds of IBEW members attended the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC) 36th Annual National Leadership Conference on January 14th-19th in Seattle, Washington, which had the theme of “Resist, Rise, Organize: Fight to Preserve Our Future!” During the conference, nearly 900 delegates from EWMC chapters and IBEW local unions across North America participated in workshops, discussions, Branch and District Caucuses.
EWMC-RENEW meetings were held on the first day and the Day of Service on the second day, where EWMC delegates volunteered on community service projects at schools, food banks, and other institutions throughout Seattle. On Saturday, former Business Manager Chris Erikson and Local 3 Vice President Louis Alvarez joined a presentation on the Electrical Workers Without Borders North America (EWWBNA). Seattle’s annual MLK Rally and March was held on Monday, January 19th, to commemorate the holiday named in his honor.
