The Westchester Mechanics Association (WMA) hosted its 90th Annual Outing and Field Day on the grounds of Monsignor Scanlan High School on a perfectly sunny Saturday afternoon, September 19th. Over 300 members and guests enjoyed the various cuisines, raffles, and sports competitions, including the Richie Caron Softball Tournament.
WMA Club President Jimmy McSpedon was the master of ceremonies. He was joined by Club Vice President Billy Vanadia, Business Representatives Louis Sanchez, Ray West Jr., and Bill Hofving, and Assistant Employment Director Michele Maldonado. Also in attendance were past business representatives Joe McSpedon, Mickey Whalen, Mike O'Neill, John Baker, and Austin McCann, past business managers of IBEW Local 43 (Syracuse) and Local 613 (Atlanta), and past New Orleans AFL-CIO President Robert “Tiger” Hammond. Local 3 member and U.S. Navy veteran Mikey Ryne tolled the ceremonial bell in commemoration of the victims of 9/11.
The next meeting of the Westchester Mechanics Association will be held on Thursday, October 1st at the American Legion’s Charles N. Bajart Jr. Post 1122 (840 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704), and the WMA’s 16th annual charity golf outing will take place on Monday, October 12th.
