Members and affiliated clubs of Local Union No. 3 are giving back to the community and spreading holiday cheer in ways they still can in these unique and challenging times.

The Lewis Howard Latimer Progressive Association donated music instruments to Glengoffe High School in the St. Catherine Parish of Jamaica, Queens. The school has been operating on a limited budget and has needed new equipment for some time. The donation included a drum set, saxophones, guitars, basses, among other pieces.

For their annual fundraiser, the Apprentice Advisory Committee partnered with Churches United for Fair Housing. Local 3 apprentices collected over 300 toys, which would be donated to children in CUFF’s partner church parishes in Brooklyn: Sacred Heart, St. Lucy-St. Patrick, and St. Michael’s in Sunset Park.

The Sportsmen’s Club held a food drive for a community center in Harlem, New York. Thank you to all the brothers and sisters who donated food or money to help those in need — New Yorkers helping New Yorkers.

This year, the Santiago Iglesias Educational Society and the Bronx Acorn Electrical Club made a $1,000 donation ($500 from each club) to the 40th Precinct Community Council’s Annual Winter Wonderland Toy Distribution. Donations provide Christmas gifts for children and families. Normally hosted at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, last year this event gave to over 1,000 children.
