Public Employee Conference affiliates and elected officials convened at PEC’s annual legislative breakfast in Albany on February 6th. Local 3, IBEW is one of more than 90 unions and umbrella organizations affiliated with PEC, which represents the interests of public employees in lobbying state and local governments.
Business Manager Christopher Erikson Jr. met with Governor Kathy Hochul and stressed the importance of union jobs in the clean-energy economy, improving Tier 6 retirement benefits, fixing the so-called “death gamble” provision for death benefits, and lowering the contribution rate from 6% to 3% for public employees, as well as restoring the offshore wind projects and Gateway Tunnel program. Local 3 and the City Division will plan a future meeting with the Governor in an effort to exchange ideas to improve work and life in New York.
