The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is calling on all union members to contact your congressional representatives in regard to the Faster Labor Contracts Act (H.R. 5408). This federal legislation prevents employers from delaying first-contract negotiations and strengthens collective bargaining rights for all workers in the United States of America. The U.S. House of Representatives passed it on June 9th, by a bipartisan vote of 230-193, and sent it to the Senate. It was initially proposed in the House by Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-1), who is also a journeyman wireman and member of IBEW Local 351.
If your representative voted “Yea” on the Faster Labor Contract Act, thank them for standing with working people and supporting stronger collective bargaining rights. But if your representative voted “Nay,” let them know you are disappointed and ask them to support policies that protect workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively. Your voice matters, and elected officials need to hear from constituents like us. Take action today.
