Do you know someone who is using heroin or opiate pain medication?
You are not alone.
Have you ever worried about what to do if your loved one overdosed?
There is help.
The Joint Industry Board’s Substance Abuse Services (JIB SAS) will be offering a training program on “Preventing Opioid Overdose” on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the North Room at the Joint Board.
This free two-hour training program is being provided by the New York State Office of Health and Mental Hygiene. Every participant will be trained in the use of Narcan as a tool in reversing overdose. Those who complete the training will be able to receive an overdose reversal kit, which includes the Narcan nasal spray.

What are Opioids?
The term “Opioids” refers to drugs or medications that are related to Opium. These include both prescribed pain medications (Codeine, Morphine, Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Vicodin, Percocett, Fentanyl) Heroin and some of the medications used to prevent the use of Heroin (Methadone, Suboxone and Buprenorphine).

Who Should Attend?

This training is important for anyone who lives with an active heroin or opioid pain medication user.

Why Should I Attend?

Because it can save the life of someone you care about.
JIB SAS is excited to be able to take part in this effort to get Narcan out to the public to try and save lives. This is an important medication that gives opiate users a chance to get help before their drug use kills them.
